Customers who generally come ti me with a new site have few if any links. Generally, I immediately set about overhauling their website tags and copy so that they are able to maximize on keywords that may not be as competitive on Google. If a client is trying to break into the car rental field, for example, it would go without saying to assume that the keywords “car rental” have already been focused on by much larger and weil established companies.

A good strategy is to focus on keywords that are less competitive and that are used in the event that my client’s prospect Google’s, say, the company name. That is, we focus on “ABC rental” until we are able to establish more inbound links to outmuscle other sites on more competitive key words.

Creating inbound links is a long and tedious process. However, the rewards are well worth it. Links coming in from high profile sites with high ranking can lift your site’s SEO ranking considerably.
